I made an aurally rewarding purchase

“Do-ki-do, ah-mah-neh-la!” Who remembers Big Pig?! Only exisiting for a small window of time from ‘85 to ‘91, they appeared on my Smash Hits ‘88 tape and I was sold. Well only on ‘Breakaway’ and ‘Hungry Town’ really, but they were such huge, percussion-heavy jams to impact a burgeoning drummer. They sounded so ambitious to my young ears. Never saw them live nor heard from them again but this features production from the legend, Nick Launay and they had an American record deal yet only really seemed to achieve mediocre success overall. Sherine Abeyratne slays on ‘Breakaway’, why isn’t this song more lauded as an Aussie classic?! I mean, it OPENED ‘Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure’. Surely that’s one of our fair nation’s finest musical achievements, right?! 🥁 🥁 🥁 🥁
