I wanted to upgrade my pc to fully utilize (PC)VR, but is that really worth it anymore? I saw a couple of posts about pcvr dying, but i can really feel it myself now.

Summary: I waited years to jump into VR to finally immerse myself in games, only to realise we stepped back years in graphics (standalone). Feeling very mixed / let down about VR in overall. It seems i wont be able to utilize my pc in the future that much for VR

I wanted to upgrade my rig to fully utilize VR resolution, as i hate aliased edges in VR, the flickering objects (especially tree leaves, pole cables, grass) are really really immersion breaking for me. I cant understand how could ppl enjoy VR back then, when im even struggling to enjoy the good old golden pcvr era titles on my current rig (RTX4070). Back then there were even worse resolution available.

On the other hand, i'm running out of titles to play. I mean metro is a mobile port clearly, also behemoth... I'm playing Asgards 1 right now, and really dont want to go to standalone after, but i have to... Same goes to Batman. And now civilization... Is it worth anymore to go for pcvr upgrades?

I get why meta does this, but its really worrying as i waited several years to join a platform only to notice that it kinda died, and we went back 20 years of graphics only to save the platform...

I mean, i was hyped to jump in as i saw that for example medal of honor had a VR game, although it has its flaws, it was amazing. And even Alyx... Man, i hate alyx for making me belive that VR games will be like that... And now, none of these bigger companies seems to care about vr.

Is that really it? I mean into the radius 2 is coming out eventually, thats my most wanted title, but thats just really it. 2019 era seemed to bloom with pcvr titles, and im closin to finishing them. I know we cant see into the future, but i really hope companies start to at least port over these mobile games, or even start to invest in pcvr again, as newer gpu's are on the way, it would be easier to make vr games run with them.

But thats just my high expectations, at least they could give us an option to run these mobile games (AW2,Civ,Batman) on our pc's with upscaled resolution and better frames. That would literally not require any work on pc side.
